Merlot Doc Piave
Because it is so well suited to all kinds of terrain Merlot has been one of the cornerstones of wine production in the provinces of Treviso and Venezia since the end of the 19th Century. The best of which becomes Merlot del Piave Doc, able to satisfy even the most demanding of clients. Merlot del Piave Doc can be considered a Riserve or Riserve if it meets the requirements set out in the regulations.
- Colour
- Intense Ruby Red, almost purple if aged.
- Fragrance
- Vinous, intense, typical, delicately ethereal, pleasant once aged.
- Flavour
- Dry and sometimes slightly soft, sapid, full-bodied, nicely tannic, fragrant.
- Alcohol
- Minimum 11 percent.
- Ideal age
- 1-4 years.
- Temperature
- Should be served between 18 - 20 degrees.
- Affinities
- As well as the usual combinations with red and white meats, it is worth trying Merlot del Piave in the area where it is produced with stewed eel, baccalla alla vicentina (salt dried cod), Venetian liver with onions and with the famous 'sopa coada' (pidgeon hotpot).
